Student Code Of Conduct

Guidelines and Procedures for Maintaining a Respectful and Orderly Learning Environment

RULES AND EXPECTATIONS

Ummahaat-ul-Mu’mineen Institute (UMMI) and Abu Bakr Institute (ABI) will use reasonable disciplinary measures to ensure the order and integrity of the school. If one or a group of students violates any law, the administration will determine appropriate sanctions.

Students are always required to follow school policies. Students are responsible for inquiring about rules and regulations and informing school authorities if shortcomings or violations are witnessed.

Offenses include and are not limited to:

  • Recording lessons
  • Cyberbullying or intimidation
  • Discrimination in class or on discussion boards
  • Disorderly conduct in class or on the student portal
  • Failure to comply with administrative orders and policies
  • False representation
  • Profanity or demeaning language used in class or on discussion boards
  • Harassment
  • Unauthorized use of student platform
  • Hacking

Students will receive penalties in accordance with the nature, severity, resulting harm of the offense, and any other relevant factors. Sanctions can range from written warnings to expulsion from the Institute.

Written notification will be issued as a first warning. Letters of probation are issued as a second warning and indicate a more severe offense that will affect a student’s status in the institute.

Restitution may be required for and not limited to the unauthorized use of the school portal or hacking

Loss of Privileges for school programs or activities may be required for and not limited to students with disorderly conduct in class or on the student portal.

Suspension or Expulsion may be required for students who commit major offenses or frequently engage in minor offenses. The length of the suspension or the decision to permanently remove the student from the school via expulsion will be decided at an evaluation meeting. During this time, the student will not be allowed to attend classes or engage in the student portal.

Students have the right to appeal sanctions if concrete evidence has been obtained in their favor or if they feel that imposed sanctions were unfair or disproportionate. Appeal forms will be available upon request and must be sent to administration within 72 hours of receiving the written notification. Impartial consideration will be given to the request, and another evaluation meeting will be arranged; however, the student will not be allowed to attend classes during this time. The evaluation and results will be submitted to the student within a maximum of 72 hours. All records of allegations and procedures will be kept in the student’s file.

Ummahaat-ul-Mu’mineen Institute (UMMI) and Abu Bakr Institute (ABI) rules and regulations may alter to accommodate additional advantages and opportunities for staff and students. Students and faculty will be notified promptly of any change to the handbook, as necessary.
