Skip to content This course is designed for sisters who have completed the memorization of the Qur’aan. It is a one-on-one session during which the student recites the entire Qur’aan from memory to her instructor. The instructor focuses on perfecting the student’s recitation to the utmost, eliminating the minutest mistakes in pronunciation as well as nurturing the student’s ability to teach the Qur’aan typically by studying the classical texts Tuhfatul Atfaal and Al Jazariyyah, depending on the level of the student. This process may take a minimum of one year and or several recitations before the student has fully mastered the proper recitation.
The Ijaazah Program is tailored for sisters who have successfully memorized the Qur’aan. This program consists of one-on-one sessions where students recite the entire Qur’aan from memory to their instructor. The focus is on perfecting recitation, ensuring the elimination of even the slightest pronunciation mistakes. In addition, students may study the “mutashaabihaat” or “verses with similar wording”, to further strenghten their memorization. Students will also develop their teaching skills through classical texts like Tuhfatul Atfaal and Al Jazariyyah, depending on their proficiency. The duration may vary, typically requiring a minimum of one year and several recitations to achieve mastery.
Note: The ijaazah process has been described for the recitation of Hafs ‘an Aasim however certification can also be requested for other recitations (see graduate division) in which case the text studied during the course may vary.
